Check Out the New Matthew McConaughey Lincoln Commercials

Right now, we are in the midst of a world takeover known as the McConnaisance.

killerjoeJust in case you are a bit out of touch, let me fill you in. The McConnaisance is arguably the greatest acting era in film history, headlined of course by the one and only Matthew McConaughey. Over the last few years, Mr. McConaughey has gone from smooth talking, naked bongo playing, king of the horrible rom-com to one of most badass actors of all-time.

Within just 3 years, he’s headlined jaw dropping, sometimes controversial roles in hits like Dallas Buyers Club, Mud, The Wolf of Wall Street, Killer Joe, True Detective, and The Lincoln Lawyer. That’s a lot of fucking good movies. Not even De Niro in his prime had as many hits in such a short time period.

Not surprisingly, this sudden wave of greatness has also made McConaughey one of the most sought after spokesmen in the world. It’s only natural. Now more than ever, women want to be with him and men want to be him.

For that reason, Ford has signed the Oscar-winning actor to a gargantuan, multi-year contract to make him the official face of Ford’s luxury line of Lincolns, in particular the 2015 MKC compact crossover. (Check out a clip of his work below)

USA Today’s Fred Meier believes that the team will be a successful one, saying, “The Texan, 44, should bring a younger and more casual and sexier feel to the brand’s marketing than previous brand spokesman, John Slattery, 52, the silver-haired “Mad Men” star with his air of old-school Manhattan and martini sophistication.”

The investment in McConaughey is huge for Ford and their Lincoln brand, which has floundered into oblivion over the last few years. With the MKC, though, the company hopes to make a push back to the top of the luxury Sedan market with the help of one of today’s biggest superstars and most recognizable personalities.

truedetectMcConaughey says, “It was clear from the start they appreciated me as an individual first and foremost, and I would be able to be myself in this collaboration.”

“Lincoln is an iconic, American brand and I like where they are heading with their transformation. I had the chance to drive the new MKC around Texas and I think they’re doing a good job.”
