In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission earlier this month, it was discovered that Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne reeled in an astonishing $38 million last year!!!
According to the filing, most of this money ($30 million of it) came from cash rewards given by non-executive directors that wanted to recognize him for being “instrumental in major strategic and financial accomplishments for the Group.”
What in the hell does that mean?? Well, it could mean just about anything, but we’ll just rack it up to politics and pocket greasing. For example, Marchionne has been threatening to move Jeep out of Toledo, Ohio recently. Well, what do you think will help change his mind more than anything?? How about a cool million or two.
Ahhh, the life of the rich…
But where did the other $8 million of Marchionne’s money come from?
According to the filing, his other 2014 earnings included his salary of $3 million, annual incentives that totaled $4.9 million, and another $135,251 that came from other forms of compensation.
Man, I wish I had that much coming in from “other forms of compensation.” Instead, I’m just stuck with cash back rewards from Wal-Mart.
