This video shows a Tesla casually driving out of a flooded tunnel while other cars are stuck in deep water. After hours of heavy rain in Almaty, Kazakhstan, many roads were flooded enough to risk severe engine damage to conventional cars, but not to electric cars like the Tesla.
A fully sealed electric motor gave this Tesla the ability to survive being half-submerged and then drive on through the water. It definitely shows that electric cars are not more susceptible to damage from a little moisture. Tesla doesn’t recommend trying the same stunt, but Elon Musk did claim on Twitter that the Model S is capable of turning “into a boat for short periods of time.”
