For almost the past decade, Audi has been working with other car manufacturers to develop a piece of technology that could change how we drive in urban areas. This new tech – Travolution – uses sensors within the car and surrounding stop lights to determine the speed at which a vehicle must go in order to reach the light while it is green. If an individual gets stopped by a red light, Travolution will count down the seconds to the light change.
As the video below states, in addition to decreasing your time waiting at stop lights, Travolution can also save you money on gas (due to reduced starting and stopping) and gives you the option to pay for your gas and parking from your car.
I hate waiting at red lights and I’d love to spend less on gas, but I think I’m going to hold off on this piece of new tech for the next several years. I don’t want to be the guinea pig slammed by some asshole running HIS red light.
What are your thoughts? Would you buy an Audi with Travolution installed? Or would you wait to see how many accidents have happened because of our increased reliance on technology, rather than good ol common sense?
