A few years ago, it would have been hard to believe that an off-road model could go for over $200,000, but now, there’s a whole crop of them. The latest to join this absurdly rich category… the Mercedes-AMG G65.
While having been across seas for years, Mercedes announced yesterday that the ride will now also be sold in the United States. For what price???
The inevitable question now is… what will you be getting for that kind of money? Well, the G65 will feature a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 that cranks out 621 horsepower and 738 pounds-feet of torque. That helps this beast of a vehicle to hit a glorious 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds.
Mercedes also adds, “The G-Class is the only off-road vehicle in its class to combine the electronic traction system 4ETS with a transfer case and three 100% differential locks.”
As expensive as the G65 is, it amazingly is nowhere near Mercedes’ most expensive off-road vehicle: the G63 6×6, which goes for $633,765. Crap your pants yet?
All of these vehicles, of course, are based on the company’s G-Class design, which made its official United States debut back in 2002 and has been produced across the pond since 1979. As far as the latest rendition, well, Mercedes says that we can expect to see it in American showrooms starting this November. Get your check books ready!!
