Upcoming Jeep Wrangler Will Have an 8-Speed Automatic, 3.0-Liter EcoDiesel Option

In an exclusive interview with Autoblog, a Fiat Chrysler executive confirmed that one of the powertrain options for the next-generation Jeep Wrangler will be equipped with a 3.0-liter, EcoDiesel V6 and a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

For hardcore Jeep fans, this is great news. Over the last few months, there has been a lot of speculation concerning the future of the Jeep Wrangler. Many were worried that Jeep would actually go soft and sell-out so they could increase sales.

Jeep WranglerHaving this diesel option, however, allows the company to increase fuel efficiency while still giving drivers the power and torque that they want.

For anybody familiar with Fiat Chrysler as of late, the new Wrangler, EcoDiesel option should come as no surprise. Currently, the company offers the package with two of their other vehicles: the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Ram 1500, both of which are highly acclaimed when it comes to performance.
