Caught on Tape… Son Surprises Dad with Restored 1968 Pontiac GTO

As a father, there’s no better gift than being appreciated for all of the hard work and sacrifices that you’ve made over the years. And that’s exactly what makes this video so great.

In this clip uploaded to Youtube earlier this week, we are brought into the home of your every day American family. As they celebrate the father’s 60th birthday, his son has him open up a present and card, asking him to read it out loud.

After he does that,t he father is then led– eyes closed– through the house to come face to face with his all-time great birthday present… a restored 1968 Pontiac GTO.

But what makes this car even more special is the history behind it.

Accompanying the video is this written account telling us the details; “When my father-in-law was 16 he owned a 68 Pontiac GTO. Bought and paid for with his own hard earned money. He and my mother-in-law have such great memories of those times and that car. A while back they found some old photos of the GTO. There it was, green with a black vinyl top. The myth, the legend, Pop’s GTO.”

“Listening to the stories and looking at the pictures, my brother-in-law became inspired, and began the journey of locating and restoring a (not his first, I might add) similar if not identical car. This week my father and mother-in-law celebrated their 60th birthdays. All of their children were there to celebrate with them. This video is of my brother surprising his father with the gift of a life time. And no, my three year old did not spoil the surprise. Enjoy.”
