Fortunately, so far in 2015, we’ve had a slow year for recalls. Considering last year’s record numbers, though, I guess it’s to be expected. After all, it would be damn near impossible to keep up that pace.
Still, earlier today, Volkswagen– one of the few companies to side step the entire Takata fiasco (hats off)– did issue a recall for 26,000 of their SUVS. The recalled vehicles include:
- The 2011-12 Audi S4, S5, and Q7
- The 2012 Audi A6 and Touareg Hybrid
- The 2012-2013 Audi A7
All of the vehicles included in the recall were sold here inside of the United States and may face production issues and vehicle vibration during “dynamic driving, it is possible that, in rare cases, a fuel leak may occur in the vehicle’s fuel injection system.”
Officials say that this leak could potentially lead to a fire.
Volkswagen said that they are unaware of any fires or injuries caused by the issue. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by March and their vehicles will be eligible for repairs of fuel rails and corresponding seals at local dealerships.
