207 MPH Bicycle Smoke Ferrari Hennessy on the Track (w/ Video)

Last weekend, Francois Gissy (who is a bus driver by trade and strangely looks a lot like the lead singer from The Darkness) blew everyone’s mind when his rocket-powered bicycle hit a mind melting 207 miles per hour. Yes, that’s right: his BICYCLE hit 207 MPH!!!

Adding to the impressive nature of his feat, Gissy and his bicycle also blew the current 0-200 mph production sprint champ– the Ferrari Hennessy Venom GT– right off of the track. Rowan Horncastle of the BBC writes, “Thanks to a Hulk-like grip, [Gissy] managed to go over the double tonne in just 4.8 seconds, which is over 10 seconds quicker than the Hennessy Venom GT.”

Making this possible, Gissy’s bike is powered by three small rockets that utilize hydrogen peroxide to fire out 4.5 kN of thrust, which is the equivalent of 560 horsepower.

Of course, Gissy, a man that has made his name on pushing the limits, isn’t satisfied with that number. In an interview with Gizmag, Gissy said, “If we can find some serious sponsors, then we would like to build a monstrous bicycle, which will be called ‘Spine Crusher.” The goal would be to accelerate to more than 400 kph (249 mph) in less than 2 seconds. I just cross my fingers that we will have the green light soon in order to start the construction.”
