Originally started in 1999 and sponsored by Grassroots Motorsports magazine, the Grassroots Motorsport Challenge has grown into an extremely popular event. The basic idea of the challenge is for drivers to build a low budget car (the budget is always equivalent to the year) for a high speed race. Each year, some of the best and most innovative minds make it out and showcase what they got.
