New spy shots of a Jeep Pickup have been released so we decided to tell you everything that we know about it. Watch More – https://goo.gl/zYYvJF
The only Jeep more anticipated than the 2018 Wrangler JL is the 2019 Wrangler Pickup. There’s been a few recent updates and spy shots, so in this video we’re cover Everything We Know About The Jeep Wrangler Pickup.
Hey guys, Ken here with 4 Wheel Online and welcome to your News Refresh. If you enjoy this video be sure to subscribe! We post a new video every Friday.
First things first, the Jeep Pickup, also known as the JT, is 100% confirmed in a few different ways, though it’s not yet “announced”. It’s possible, but highly unlikely that the project will be cancelled entirely.
Recent spy shots from JL Wrangler Forums show a camouflaged Wrangler with a bed that looks like it was made for this mule. Previous spy shots showed a mismatched Ram 1500 bed.
Before going much further we should note that this truck isn’t anywhere near being finalized so we should look at it in a pretty general sense. Some people seem to think this mule is using JK parts in some places. It’s a good idea to not critique every small detail since everything about this truck could change at any time.
But with that said let’s look at the small details.
There’s a spare tire under the bed, which brings up some concerns about where you’d store a larger tire. I don’t think we’re going to be able to fit a 37 under there. Luckily the stock spare is tucked up high enough to not affect the departure angle.
However the bed overhang does cause some concerns in that area. The bed doesn’t extend any farther than a most full size trucks, but will make it less off road capable than the new JL. But that’s to be expected when comparing a truck versus a Jeep.
We expect it to have the same or similar engines to the JL. Rumored options include a Turbo 4 cylinder, a V6 Pentastar and a Diesel.
This brings us to the biggest unknown. Will the Wrangler Pickup just be a Ram 1500 with a Wrangler body?
There’s some possibility to that statement but we’re going to go with our gut here and say it will end up as a midsize truck based on the JL frame instead of a full size based on the Ram 1500.
The JK currently sits at the same width as the Tacoma and Colorado and sales of midsize trucks are increasing. Ford is even bringing back the Ranger as a modern midsize. The market is there for a Wrangler Pickup and it wouldn’t totally cannibalize their full size truck sales.
Unfortunately we still have no idea if the JT has a removable top but we expect it will if it’s based on the JL. We also don’t know if there will be a 2 door pickup.
Now that you know everything we know, tell us what you want to see in the final production truck! I’m sure some of you have some really interesting ideas. Until next time, I’m Ken with 4WheelOnline and you’ve just been refreshed.
